The primary symptoms of varicose veins are highly visible, misshapen veins, usually on your legs. You may also have pain, swelling, heaviness, and achiness over or around the enlarged veins.
Endo Venous Ablation involves putting a catheter inside the diseased vein then ablating (occluding) the vein.
This is done through a 2 mm incision. The procedure does not require hospital admission.
At Emirates Hospital, Jumeriah, we offer non-invasive treatment for Varicose Veins, which offers our patients minimal downtime, quick recovery and less pain.

Laser Haemorrhoids (Piles) Treatment Benefits and Complications
What is Haemorrhoids?
Haemorrhoids are basically veins in the walls of our rectum, our back passage, or in essence of our anus. On the wall there are veins, which are normal. But when the veins become distended, become big, this will lead to haemorrhoid.
Signs and Symptoms of Haemorrhoids
Patient will complaint of bleeding, especially when they go to toilet. When the stools come out especially when it is a bit hard, then they will notice that there will be followed by blood, fresh colour dripping down following the stool. Or when they wipe themselves, they will notice that on tissue, there will be fresh blood.
Other symptoms will include pain, this can occur when the haemorrhoids are big, and then blood clots develop in them. This is what we called a thrombosed haemorrhoids, and this is a very painful condition which need most of the time emergency treatment.
Diagnostic for Haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoids are essentially veins itself, they don’t cause cancer as such. Haemorrhoids are usually associated with patients who tend to be more constipated. When they have hard stool, when they need to push a lot during their bowel motion. In order to prevent it, its always good to have a regular bowel habit, eat lots of fruits and fibers, and drink lots of water at least 2-3 liters a day. So that it will keep the stool loose and regular.
Prevalence
Haemorrhoids is a very common condition, it affects about 80% of the population. It will tend to develop it at least once in a life time and it affects both males and females equally.
Complications of Haemorrhoids
It’s best to seek medical treatment during the early stage of haemorrhoid. This is because haemorrhoids can lead to complications. When it’s small enough, easier to be treated. It will not be left with big wounds after surgery that can cause prolonged healing.
Treatment Option Available for Haemorrhoids
Treatment options available for haemorrhoid usually depend on the size. If it’s quite small, can put a rubber band around it to strangulate the haemorrhoids. Eventually, it will die off and fall out itself.
When it gets a bit bigger, there are other options like Stapling or Surgery. Of course, surgery, stapling technique they all are pretty invasive and they can have a longer recovery period, more serious complications.
Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment is a procedure whereby we use a laser fiber to shrink the haemorrhoids. It is a minimally invasive technique. The advantages of Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment is because it does not involve in any cuts, there is no risk of incontinence. For example, patients may have been incontinence which means they can’t control the bowel movement after surgery to remove haemorrhoids. Occasionally the anal sphincters can be cut and this is completely avoided by Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment. There is no risk to that at all. It is actually a painless procedure.
Laser Haemorrhoids Procedure
In this animation video (video below) shows the procedure of Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment. The lump in purple color is haemorrhoids. In order to perform the procedure, the laser fiber is inserted into the haemorrhoids, and it is switched on. It shrinks the haemorrhoid bits by bits, until the whole of the haemorrhoids is treated. The end result is that the haemorrhoids is shrunken without any cuts or risk of bleeding.
What are the complications after Conventional Open Haemorrhoids Surgery and Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment?
Patient will find themselves up at about almost immediately. Sometimes during surgery haemorrhoids are cut, and then following operation, patients can tend to bleed. In Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment, there is no such risk as well.
Other advantages include there is no risk of stenosis. What it means is the opening in your anus become narrowed and tight, because there was a surgery to remove the haemorrhoids. The wound tends to heal itself, and can shrink, and causes stenosis and then will lead to problems like the faeces cannot come out easily. Then you will need again another treatment to correct the problem. But in this procedure there is no such risk. Also there is no suture involve, which can also lead to risk of infection of the wound. So again, it is a plus point for Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment.
What to expect after Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment?
After Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment, I normally advise my patients to rest for at least a week. There can be mid swelling or inflammation of the veins that have been treated. Some times it can cause a discomfort after about 4 or 5 days after the procedure. With proper rest and well looked after the first few days, this can usually be avoided.
Home remedies for haemorrhoids?
Some people when they have haemorrhoids, they choose to treat themselves with home remedies or traditional treatment. One of the reasons is that they may be shy to come to the hospitals to see doctors, who are of course strangers to them. But I must warn that this sort of treatments, most of the time are not effective. Sometimes, it can cause more harm than good.
Haemorrhoids advices from doctor
My advice is do a seek professional help or advice as soon as there is a problem. Another reason is that they may be afraid of surgery, which the wound will take about 2 weeks to heal completely. But all these are unfounded fears with Laser Haemorrhoids Treatment. These are all avoided.
No Cut.
Minimal Pain.
Fast Recovery.
Low Complications.
